Student Internship Program
 

For the second year, Blue Skies Gallery is offering Artistic Horizons Summer Internship Program to High School rising Juniors and graduating Senior students who are talented in the visual arts.

The program will run during the months of July and August, 2007. Application deadline is June 1, 2007. The internship would require the student to work at the gallery for a minimum of sixteen hours over a four week period in exchange for displaying the student’s art work during that period of time. The internship will allow the student artist (s) the opportunity to:

1. Professionally show their work to the public

2. Potentially sell their art work

3. Opportunity to meet and work with Blue Skies Gallery artists and to learn about the business of art.

4. To observe and begin to understand what is involved in participating in the workings of a business such as Blue Skies Gallery.

5. List the internship on the student’s curriculum vitae

Students who wish to participate in this program must complete the following criteria:

1. Download the application here.

2. Complete the application and send it to or drop it off at the gallery no later then June 1.

3. Include with the application a one page type written paper explaining future goals and how you hope to incorporate your artistic talents in those goals.

4. Include with the application two letters of recommendation. One of these letters should be from an artist or art teacher.

5. Contact Blue Skies Gallery to make an appointment for a personal interview.

6. Prepare to present three to five pieces of original work at the time of the personal interview /appointment.

7. Two dimensional art does not need to be framed for the interview. If you are chosen to participate in this program it must be framed and ready to hang in order to display at Blue Skies Gallery (no saw-tooth hangers).

8. Art must be original and not produced from kits or patterns.

All forms of visual arts are acceptable to include pencil, pen and ink, charcoal, pastel, watercolor, oil, acrylic, pottery, sculpture, textiles, weaving basketry, mixed media, photography, and jewelry.
