Kay's first Bead Making class at the torch was in 2002.  From the start making glass beads was a perfect fit to her creativity with its spontaneity and instant gratification.  Molten Glass is an amazing medium you can do most anything with it from round beads to forming sculpture.  Kay likes experimenting with new ideas, techniques, and using different types of glass.  Working with hard glass (Borosilicate) is totally different from Soft Glass (Moretti) and each type of glass has its own challenges with color variances.

Desire to use her own Lampwork Beads in jewelry led Kay to a whole new dimension to her creative side.  She quickly discovered that jewelry design is very challenging, creative and is constantly evolving.  An idea of how Kay might use beads in a jewelry design does lead to her inspiration at the torch.  Her jewelry is the display case for her beads.

Kay is a member of the International Society of Glass Beadmakers and the Bead Society of South Eastern Virginia. More information about Kay Bolden can be found on her website www.liquid-sand.com
