Pat Carter-Hood has always been involved
in art since she was a child growing up in the Midwest. Her interest in
art was inspired and nurtured by a wonderful high school teacher—Mary Winifred
Walters Norris.
Living in several places around the world from Illinois, California,
the Philippines, Colorado, Arizona, Texas, Washington, D.C., and Virginia, Carter-Hood
has travel opportunities that allow her to visit art museums and galleries where
her art perspective and appreciation is increased. Wherever she’s lived,
Carter-Hood has taken art classes and has had the privilege of studying with
several fine artists such as Siva Chambers, Pearl Chang, Jan Ledbetter, Polly
Hammett, Phyllis Greenway, Alex Powers and Don Getz.
The effects of color and light on meaningful objects are an
inspiration—even if they are not expensive or spectacular. Common, everyday
views have texture, design, and contrast that attract her interest and become
incorporated into her works of art.
